Tea Flower

Pale tea leaves unfurl
and reach through warm water like
a hand in friendship.

I love that image. And it makes me think of the warm glow you get in your belly, both drinking a cup of tea and connecting with a friend.

Oh, I LOVE those tea flower ball thingies. The tea is usually ...unfamiliar, to say the least, but the flowering is so gradual and gorgeous -- it makes an adventure out of the mundane. I love you take on it.

You are so right - the warmth of the tea and the warmth of hands in friendship. Great connection!

Pretty flower, pretty poem. I'd never seen a tea flower before.

I've never seen this before. Cool! Lovely analogy in your haiku.

This is so perfect, Lorie Ann. I brought one of these to the daughter of one who had lost her mother not long ago. There were five of us in her kitchen that day, and when the tea flower bloomed, it was precisely as you say.
