What a wistful poem--thanks for sharing it!
I read this immediately after reading Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden (on Savvy Verse & Wit's blog). Both of them gave me a pang.
Those goodbyes can be so hard. Sometimes even when you know you are moving on to something really good. I hope that's true for you.
I felt this way when my parents sold the house I grew up in after many, many years. At the time I was living in Australia. Some days I still regret not having the chance to say goodbye.
